GUIDELINES FOR UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION
Submission of portfolio of three original compositions including the following:
one ensemble work for two or more instruments
one keyboard work
one work of choice
Perform and pass an entrance audition on a primary instrument at the minimum level of the entering
performance audition requirements of Bachelor of Arts in Music.
Students will be placed at the appropriate level based on the evaluation of submitted compositions.


Freshmen: Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance
A Prelude and Fugue by Bach or similar contrapuntal piece, plus at least two other contrasting pieces,
from different style periods, from the standard repertory for piano, are required. Selections may be
drawn from sonatas, preludes, suites, etudes and other pieces by such composers as Beethoven,
Debussy, Chopin, Liszt, Bartók, Mozart and others. Memorization is required. Sight-reading will also
be evaluated.



Freshmen and Junior Level Transfers: Bachelor of Music
A more advanced fantasia by Dowland or da Milano
Two movements from a lute suite or sonata by Bach or Weiss
A movement from a major work by Sor, Giuliani, Carulli, Regondi or Mertz
A movement from a work by Villa Lobos, Ponce, Brouwer or other contemporary composer
Master of Music
A suite by Bach or Weiss
An advanced sonata, fantasy or concerto by Sor, Giuliani or Paganini
Demonstration of contemporary music performance abilities


Freshmen and Junior Level Transfers: Bachelor of Music- Performance
• Perform four solo songs from memory in the following categories:
• One (1) art song in English
• One (1) art song in Italian
• Two (2) songs or arias of the applicant's choice in any language.
